Individuals considering joining Kiwanis should attend one or more meetings (see meeting schedule below) to become familiar with the organization. To apply for membership they would fill out a membership application form which will be available at the meeting.
Each applicant must be sponsored by a member-in-good standing. The Board of Directors reviews and approves applications monthly. Approved members are formally inducted into the club by the Membership Chair and/or Club President and he/she must verbally agree to abide by the Kiwanis Objects listed below.
The Six Permanent Objects of Kiwanis International were approved by Kiwanis club delegates at the 1924 Convention in Denver, Colorado. Through the succeeding decades, they have remained unchanged.
Object 1 - To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life.
Object 2 - To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.
Object 3 - To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards.
Object 4 - To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.
Object 5 - To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities.
Object 6 - To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.
Membership Fee Schedule: Our Club's membership year begins October 1st and ends September 30th. Members who join our club at the beginning of our fiscal year will pay $100 full membership dues. Beginning November, and each month thereafter, member dues will be reduced by $10 per month through July. To incentivize new members, the months of August and September in any closing year will be FREE.
Meeting Schedule & Venue: We meet each Wednesday, usually from 8 to 9 a.m. in the Ocean Pines Community Center, Assateague Room. During the summer our meetings are held in the Ocean Pines Library. Most meetings have a special speaker or presentation, and coffee and donuts are available for a small contribution. Once or twice a month, usually on the 3rd and 5th Wednesdays, we hold meetings offsite at local venues. CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE MEETINGS & EVENTS CALENDAR PAGE.
