SPEAKERS AT PRIOR KIWANIS MEETINGS

January 28, 2026 - Assateague Room, 8 a.m.

We are pleased to welcome Rick Stephens as our guest speaker. A proud alum of Worcester Technical High School, Rick has dedicated over 41 years as the welding instructor and serves as the SkillsUSA lead advisor. He has received numerous accolades, including being named the SkillsUSA National Educator of the Year in 2019. Join us for an insightful discussion as Rick shares his experiences in empowering students through hands-on technical education and the important role of SkillsUSA in workforce development.

January 14, 2026 - OCEAN PINES LIBRARY, 8 a.m.

Our January 14 meeting will be at the library, because the Assateague Room is not available.


We are pleased to announce our speakers, Lauren King and Kristin Littleton from Coastal Hospice. Their presentation, “Caring Through the Final Seasons: What Families Should Know,” will equip families with the knowledge to prepare for crises effectively. They will share practical steps to honor loved ones' wishes and ensure smooth transitions in care. Additionally, they will review the checklist used by social workers when patients are admitted for services. Join us to gain compassionate guidance for helping our friends and families navigating the challenges of life's final stages. 

December 10, 2025 - Assateague Room, 8 a.m.

We are pleased to welcome Jerrona Smith, Regional Director for Lower Shore CASA. Jerrona holds an MBA in Organizational Leadership from Wilmington University and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services Management from the University of Phoenix. Introduced to CASA in 2004, she has since served as a volunteer, staff support, director, and now leads efforts on the Lower Shore. Lower Shore CASA advocates for children involved in the court system due to abuse or neglect, ensuring each has a voice, a volunteer, and a path toward a safe, permanent home.

December 3, 2025 - Assateague Room, 8 a.m.

On December 3 our guest will be Jennifer Coffey, Kiwanis Children's Fund Development Officer for the Capital Kiwanis district. Jennifer works at the KI headquarters in Indianapolis but will be in our area and asked to meet with us.  She would like to learn more about our club’s work in the community, share the total impact Kiwanis has made on the lives of children worldwide through the club grant programs and how we are continuing to grow our impact through the new initiative, The Possibility Project.

November 5, 2025 - Assateague Room, 8 a.m.

We are pleased to welcome Eric W. Johnston, CFP®, President of InFocus Financial Advisors, to speak on “Effective Strategies for Seniors to Transfer Funds to Younger Generations.” With over 30 years of experience helping families with retirement planning, tax strategies, and estate matters, Eric will share practical, tax-aware ways to pass wealth while preserving legacy and minimizing risk.

October 8, 2025 - Assateague Room, 8 a.m.

Our speaker will be Cindy Dillon, Executive Committee member and Zero Waste Lead of the Lower Eastern Shore Group of the Maryland Sierra Club. The Sierra Club is America’s oldest, largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization. She also represents the Group on the Maryland Bottle Bill Coalition.


Cindy will present on the Group’s promotion of the Maryland Bottle Bill, a deposit return system with the goal of decreasing litter and plastic pollution, resulting in a cleaner, healthier environment on the Eastern Shore and in all of Maryland.
